IMPACT 2012 Quick Wrapup
The conference theme was “Building Business Agility” – and throughout the conference more than 450 HR and L&D executives attended sessions on how to build global programs, drive employee engagement, create continuous learning programs, drive integrated recruiting strategies, and create 21st century leaders.
Bersin & Associates launched two major new initiatives.
First, we launched the Bersin & Associates Research Exchange®, the HR and L&D industry’s first global research panel dedicated to helping organizations understand best-practices in all areas of talent management, learning, leadership development, and HR. We invite all organizations to join.
The Exchange is different from our Research Membership – it gives members and non-members access to special new research in exchange for participating in a broad range of our research programs. All corporate, educational, and non-profits are welcome to join (no vendors).
Second, we previewed our brand new personalized information services platform, BersinInsights®. BersinInsights, which is available to selected members only, gives members a smart, easy-to-use, personalized, scalable platform to access all Bersin & Associates research, information, and tools. Think about it as the “daily dashboard” for HR, L&D, and talent management professionals at all levels. More details on BersinInsights will be released in May and June. If you are a research member, please contact your Account Executive for an in-depth demo.
Third we launched our new High-Impact Learning Organization research, our new Talent Acquisition Framework, our Employee Engagement research, new research on how to build a global leadership strategy and our new BigData in HR maturity model. This research is all brand new and is all being published this coming week.
One Wednesday morning I keynoted the conference with a talk about building The Agile Enterprise. I won’t detail it here (we will have a replay up soon), but I received tremendous feedback from the audience. The “old days” of HR are over, and it’s time for HR to focus on programs and strategies which drive global empowerment, team collaboration, expert leadership, and transparent access to BigData. I will be posting a more detailed report on this topic in the coming weeks.
On Thursday we had Dana Tomechko the VP of HR from NBC News tell us about human resources at NBC drives employee connectivity, risk-taking, and speed. Dana give us all the inspiration to help our organization’s move faster, learn new ways to work together, and rapidly innovate and change.
Then on Thursday afternoon we had Olivia Fox Cabane tell us about how brain science drives us in business. She shared the three secrets to Charisma, and we all learned about “the imposter syndrome.” (Fascinating stuff.)
The sessions on BigData, global learning, engagement, talent acquisition, diversity, and technology were packed. More than 140 of you arrived a day early for the pre-conference sessions, and more than 100 people stayed thru Friday for our workshops on Global Leadership and Training Measurement.
We have nearly outgrown the Renaissance Vinoy resort, but as always the entire group enjoyed the collaborative, informal, and intimate atmosphere. We are working on next year’s date and location, so stay tuned.
I had the opportunity to talk with many of you, and all I can say is thank you. Each and every attendee brought insights, wisdom, and a passion for learning to the conference. IMPACT is always one of the most energizing weeks of the year, and for me this was the best conference yet.
Research members will have access to all the videos and conference presentations in the coming weeks.
