Excellent points! Often companies want to put all of their eggs in one basket, which these days seems to be about technology, but forget about the front line managers, education and motivating and engaging employees. Especially in a high touch and service -intensive industry like healthcare, it you want to grow and flourish, without great service and caring people who are happy, you will fail. It is a two-way street. employees need to be paid and treated fairly and you will see that they will be the stars and ambassadors for your company, regardless of type. Yes, we need technology but s they say, someone may forget what you said, or what you did, bu they will never forget how you made them feel! I think this is the best motto ever. Repeat customers, referrals, less of employee turnover and a growing and successful business.

These are good points. Been reading Lori Kleiman’s HR You Can Use. Her look at HR from learning to do it in house yourself. hrtopics.com is her site for her info and the book. I really didn’t know how to handle it on our own, but I think it could work especially in a small business setting to run the HR Dept. yourself.
